CAPITAL BREWERY
Capital Brewery was incorporated in 1984, and kegged its first beer in 1986. In 1987, Kirby Nelson stepped up from Assistant Brewmaster to Head Brewmaster, a position that he still holds today. Since that time, Kirby's creations have won numerous awards
through out the country. In 1999, the BTI rated Capital Brewery as the #1 Brewery in America and #7 worldwide. During the spring & summer of 2005, Kirby developed a brew using wheat from Wisconsin's Washington Island, this eventually became known as Island Wheat Ale. Island Wheat Ale hit the shelves in early 2006 and sold almost 100,000 cases in its first year. Since then, Capital Brewery has added another beer that uses grain from Washington Island, an American Amber Ale called Rustic Ale.
